ASKO D1796

by Derek
(Delta, BC Canada)

ABSOLUTE JUNK!!! This overpriced dishwasher has been a piece of crap. During the 5 years I have owned it I have replaced 2 controller boards (warranty) and 2 of the stupid plastic button cover strips that keep cracking. The third strip is now cracked so I put a piece of scotch tape over it.

The wash pump impeller just broke, but guess what. Asko decided to screw their customers once again and not just sell a $20 plastic impeller. Now you have to replace the whole wash pump at a complete rip off price between $350-$525 (depending where you get it)a little steep when just a small plastic replacement impeller would suffice. Another example of corporate greed.

Well I finally decided to junk this DW but thought I would pull the new controller board out and sell it on ebay for $50 or something.....But alas that was not to be. When I pulled the board out one of the contacts completly pulled off the board. It was burned and one of the 3 relays was burned as well as the PC board under 3 1/2 watt resistors so in fact this was the 3rd controller boad shot.

DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE DISHWASHERS!

They are overpriced Garbage

Pass on Asko
by: Anonymous

I agree with the low quality, far below what the price should deliver. Same sort of issue plus racks are poorly built and do not last long. Same issue with cover over control panel. The wheels are also weak for the botom rack and didnt last long. With them being in pooor shape it is very difficult to get the lower rack in and out. I will not rush to buy an Asko product again based on this dud.
POOR VALUE!!!

Overpriced piece of absolute S___T
by: Anonymous

I was told how Asko was such a great dishwasher by the dealer. It is complete garbage and they do fall apart. I need a new mother and am not even going to bother with it. I am going to throw in the dumpster. I just got done spending 200.00 on new parts for the tray that fell apart. What a piece of crap.

poor rack design
by: Anonymous

So far no mechanical problems, but the tines to hold the dishes upright have been snapping off, and the racks do not pull out or push in due to expensive rollers breaking and ball bearing falling out. Repairs are over the top! Please look around before purchasing. Also, the screws holding the dishwasher in place have fallen out.

Asko is complete trash.

This is the second impeller that has gone on my dishwasher in just a few years. I had a hell of a time replacing the first. As others have said, I had to buy a whole new motor for $280. When I got the motor the mounting forks on the chassis had been broken off in transit. They were floating around in the bottom of the box. The Asko dealer said it was not their problem. I scavenged the $20 impeller off the $280 motor and got the machine going again. Now just three years later the cheap, nasty little impeller is gone again.

People! Say away from Asko!! It is junk!

Worse appliance EVER
by: Anonymous

I have owned my ASKO D1796 dishwasher for 6 six years. I have had every possible part replaced and the mother board twice. Now, it is toast! I even spoke with folks at ASKO headquarters in Sweden and they were of no help at all. Worse dishwasher EVER.
