BOSCH Classixx 1400

We purchased the Bosch Classix 1400 for a number of reasons. We have a large family and the machine was to be in use every day so reliability and speed were very important. We also wanted to do our bit so a good energy rating was an important secondary factor.

The energy rating was a straightforward choice of the AA rating.

The reliability was not what we expected from the Bosch brand. The glass front on the front of the machine, it is a front loader, cracked after a few months. This was replaced under warranty but still was an upsetting failure that put the machine out of commission. The inlet pipe blocked frequently and the valve to let the water in also failed.

In terms of speed and flexibility I cannot fault the machine. Choosing a wash cycle is accompanied with a display of how long the wash will take. This has been a great time saver and is a feature I could not live without.

The cleanliness of the clothes has always been exceptional. There are a number of low temperature cycles and even at the lowest settings the machine has never disappointed. There are options for additional rinses and an extra heavy duty washing cycle called “wash plus” but we have never found the need to use them.

I would recommend this machine for a large family. Despite some surprising mechanical failures the daily performance of the machine and simple, intuitive controls have made washing a pleasure.
