Caucasian 1960 Model

by Jan
(Kentucky)

The best dishwasher I have ever owned arrived the summer of 1960. It was never actually put into use until about 1965 but has been washing dishes ever since. There was a 1958 model of the same make that didn't operate quite as well.

It would splash water all over the counter top which resulted in rashing. A 1961 and 1963 model followed, but being Male makes, they were basically worthless. Another attempt at a Female make was attempted in 1968, but it never washed a single dish.

The 1960 model did have an extended break in period of about 10 years when the dishes could have been a bit cleaner. Once broken in, it has done a better job than any electric models I have ever had.

I use an effective pre-wash treatment by allowing the dogs to lick all dishes clean before they enter the washing process. By using this method it conserves water and saves money on the less kibble I have to buy.

This works so well that some people think they dishes have come straight from the dishwasher. I know better. I then run a sink full of hot, soapy water. I think Dawn works best for the soap.

The dishes are then placed gently into the sink and allowed to soak for a few minutes. Then washed, rinsed, and placed in a drying rack where they are allowed to air dry.
