Elite dishwasher and Kenmore not good for me

by Dawn Kesteloot
(Algonac, MI)

I purchased this dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago. It has turbo wash and smart wash options. I never use any wash except for normal.

The extra options are useless to me. I absolutely am telling you not to buy from Sears Kenmore elite products. I bought all my appliances brand new 2 1/2 years ago.

And since then my washing machine has broke down (Kenmore elite G4), my ice maker has broke down (Kenmore elite), and my dishwasher will not empty the detergent from the detergent holder and my dishes do not come out clean at all. Also the Kenmore elite dryer is horrible as it wrinkles all the clothes and you have to dry things more than once.

Trust me, go with another brand and don't think the more it costs the better. I'm still paying off my appliances and have more than my share of problems.

Unhappy with kenmore elite NEW
by: Nancy

Have had the tall tub dishwasher for four years. Within a year the electronic controls had to be replaced. Every year since we have had repairs because it won't clean. Recently paid $200 and still not cleaning. Plus the plastic trays started breaking long ago. I've had better dishwashers in rental apartments. I will never buy another kenmore.

Quality on this is not good. 2 & 1/2 years into owning this "Elite" machine and the pump broke. Total cost for repair: $225.00. I'll never buy a Kenmore again.

Love it! NEW
by: Anonymous

I love this dishwasher! It is a very solid and durable dishwasher. The things that I love most about it are how functional it is to use and how well it cleans the dishes. Because the top rack is adjustable to multiple heights, you can put the rack to whatever works best for your needs.

I have never had a problem with the cleaning quality. The only problems that I have found with it are the latch for the soap compartment doesn't always latch without a good push and that if the items are placed too close to the soap compartment when door is closed, the soap is not released for adequate dish cleaning.

slow and ineffective NEW

One pro of this dishwasher is the silverware basket. Each item is separated and they do not overlap with each other so they each get a nice clean washing.

This dishwasher has two levels, one top and one bottom level. The upper level is height adjustable, depending on how tall the items in the upper level need to be loaded.

A propeller is on the bottom, shooting water up to all levels of the dishwasher, attempting to give the items a good clean.

However, The dishwasher takes way too long to wash the dishes. It could take over two hours sometimes. A second con is, if you stop it to add another item, the timer resets from the start instead of continuing from where it left off.

In this dishwasher, the heating element takes too long. It is a slow process while it runs up my water and electricity bill. In addition, my soap cube does not melt. What is the point in having a heating element take so long if it keeps the cube the way it was when I put it in.

I give this a low rating because sometimes it does not fully clean the items and the soap cube does not always melt. With over two hours of my water bill running, it is not worth it because it does not clean fully.
