Fisher Paykel DD605HSS

by wendy
(los alamitos ca usa)

It has been a nightmare. It breaks down all the time and trying to find a person who can repair it is another nightmare. In the last 4 years, only one of the drawers has functioned. I have had the company out to fix it that was recommended by Fisher Paykel.

One person tells me one story and another tells me another story. I have had so much trouble with the only repair serviceman near me that repairs these, that I get nauseous over the thought of having them back again. One time they came back 5 times in a week to put it back together because they keep rushing to get it done and had not done something right. It normally breaks down within 6 weeks of them fixing it.

This time it broke down 2 weeks later. I have not called since because of the problems I have with them. So, between a dishwasher that breaks down all the time and no qualified repair serviceman, I will never buy one of these again. At least I have been successful in getting 6 of my friends to buy a Kenmore that has high ratings. They all love it too and have had no problem.

When I am in a store and see anyone looking at it, I tell them what I am going thru and they seem to lose interest. I hope this helps others when making a decision. I am a busy professional and having to do my dishes at the end of a long day is so upsetting. In the last 4 years (and I have had them for only 5 years now) they have been down about 70% of the time. Bottom line - don't waste your money.

Leaks!
by: Anonymous

Purchased my apartment with this lemon already installed. It leaks. The prior owner had left the service repair history--it has leaked in the past. Because I don't want to flood my neighbor downstairs, I've been hand washing dishes. I miss the Bosch that was in my old apartment.

Fisher-Paykel Double DishDrawer The Fisher-Paykel Double DishDrawer dishwasher brings a different concept to dishwashing. The smaller drawers allow you to wash smaller loads at a time - ultimately saving the water and energy to run a standard full size dishwasher when it is not full.

Having the two drawers also allow you to have run different cycles depending on what is needed to be cleaned. One drawer can be run on an quick wash for items such as glassware, while the other on a scrub mode for more soiled pot and pans.

One primary drawback of the 2 drawer system is that they limit the size of the pan or plate that can be washed. The only other drawback of this system is that while it is very energy efficient, the cycles are long and there is no heated dry option. A fan runs at the end of the cycle to dry the dishes, but it also runs for several hours. Thus, you may need to plan ahead if you need the clean dishes by a certain time.

It gets the job done well and my only complaint is that it does not hold some of the big plates and pans that I have.

Endless chain of repairs
by: Anonymous

Yes, F & P in NZ was great - the first time repairs were needed. All of the repairs we needed while it was under warrantee were handled by the same incompetent repairman.

We had the same experience as others - sometimes the repairman would come four or five times in a week. After it was out of warrantee, he replaced many of the same parts that had been replaced while it was under warrantee. I had to keep track of every invoice to point out to him that we were in an endless of loop of repairing lid motors, seals, pumps, and still getting constant leaks.

The only reason it "works" now is that we don't use the bottom drawer (which leaks enough to set off the F1 fault that takes days of drying to reset) whereas the top drawer leaks into the bottom drawer, which does not leak unless it's actually working. So we just bale the water out of the bottom drawer once in awhile.

Yeah, and you do have to make your dishes pretty clean before using it.

Don't get this one.

Worst thing I've ever owned! Looks nice, like the concept, but it doesn't wash the dishes!?!@!? If the dishes aren't totally clean going in, all the dishes come out dirty. Don't get this one.

A nightmare. Don't spend over a $1000 and get stuck with a lemon. Do yourself a favor. Bad in so many ways I can't even list all the problems. I am at a point where I know more about disassembly and fixes than the repair man.

Call the company in New Zealand and tell them your trouble, they were very helpful...but mine problems happened at 4 weeks of only weekend use and they replaced both drawers and paid for the plumber to take it out and put in the new one.
