Frigidaire UltraQuiet III

by Don Andrews
(andrewbeers@live.com)

We purchased a Frigidaire UltraQuietIII about a year ago, and I can’t wait to replace it. It does not clean dishes well at all. Most times my wife and I have to hand wash the dishes before loading the machine, defeating the purpose of a dishwasher. The racks are configured in a way that most pots or pan will not fit in properly. Several times the seal around the door has loosened and leaked water in the floor and stained one side of the cabinet beside the dishwasher.

One of the major factors in purchasing the UltraQuiet III was the brushed stainless steel front. After a few months the stainless steel wasn’t so stainless. I have had to use rust remover on the front of the machine several times. I notice rust stains on the front after about a week of polishing the front of the machine. The handle has also come loose numerous times. I have tried to resolve the problem, but have been unable to keep the screws tightened in the handle.

The front panel seems to be a touch panel, but is push button. I am grateful that it is not a touch panel, but have noticed the indicators on the front are extremely hard to see. Several times I have ran the dishwasher with the incorrect settings because of this problem.

The one positive is that it lives up to its name, UltraQuiet. The dishwasher it replaced could be heard throughout most of the house, and this one is not audible from outside the kitchen.

Overall, this product is substandard and I would stay away from it. I have had great luck with other Frigidaire products, but this one is not up to par for my standards. I am replacing it very soon with another brand.

Average Dishwasher
by: Anonymous

We moved into a house that already had this dishwasher installed. The dishwasher lives up to its name, its quiet at least. Though its not silent, like the dishwasher my parents have (I cant recall which one at the moment).

Our UltraQuiet has a black door, not stainless steel. The whole thing looks like its made of cheap plastic, down to the inside of the dishwasher. The metal racks feel cheap, and have rust spots on them as well.

Overall, performance is about average. We clean debris off all our dishes before washing them in the machine, and dishes come out clean. The only complaint about it is the drying cycle, which doesnt dry very well and leaves water spots on glass and flatware.

Also, theres no way to tell if the dishes are clean. The "clean" light stays on ALL the time, so you cant tell if theyre dirty, or if theyve been washed.

Id rather replace the unit with a much nicer one, but for now its adequate.

Glad I didn't pay for it!

I moved into a house with the Frigidaire UltraQuiet III. It claims to clean so well that you don't have to rinse the dishes. It is neither quiet nor does it clean well. I have to wash the dishes by hand or they don't come out clean. The only thing it might possibly do is sterilize and store dishes. It also doesn't dry them well either. If I had bought this dishwasher myself, I'd be asking for my money bad. It's bad enough that I have to replace it when I thought it was fairly new and I wouldn't have to buy a new one.

This is a quality product but with some issues in its drying process
by: Anonymous

Pros
- This unit is very quiet.
- Dishes come through very clean.

Cons
- Takes a little longer to run cycle than I would like.
- I'm not sure how efficient this unit is with regard to electric usage.

We purchased our Frigidaire for use in our home and have been extremely satisfied with the unit. Because our kitchen is located closely to our living room, we wanted a dishwasher that ran quietly. This unit does exactly that. Because our previous unit was not only loud, but left specks of food on our dishes, our second search criteria was a unit that left dishes spotless.

The Frigidaire cleans dishes very well, and we aren't required to do a great deal of rinsing before loading the unit. While I can not recall the price we paid for this dishwasher, I do remember feeling very comfortable paying it, and in hindsight it was worth every penny. We have not had a single problem with the mechanics or plumbing of the device.

For that matter, I installed the unit myself and it went in a snap. I had never installed a dishwasher before, so I was very pleased at the ease of installation. The unit is also quite spacious, and has a flexible set up, allowing us to fit oddly shaped dishes with no problem. One of the few drawbacks of this unit is that it takes longer than we would like to run a load of dishes.

When we have a party, it is nice to run several loads back to back. With this unit, we are forced to wait in between loads. The drying of the dishes seems to be the real issue.

Dishes remain slightly wet for quite some time after the unit finishes its cycle. I'm not sure if this is the most energy efficient model, but we did not see a noticeable spike in our energy bills. This is a certainly a quality product.

Disappointed
by: Anonymous

I have had my Ultra Quiet for about 5 years now and I do not like it. It doesn't clean the dishes well and my bottom rack is rusted through. About half of the spindles have rusted off. A new rack is over $100. I think my money will be spent on a new machine instead--not a frigidaire.

Yep, I have to agree mine is not cleaning the dishes well at all. And has been this way since I bought it 4 years ago. SO anoying, you buy something, you expect it to work!! But I just pretty much hand wash everything before I put them in the dishwaher. So thinking I have to cough up some money to replace this one.

Fridgidaire Ultra Quiet 111
by: Anonymous

I hate mine too, we bought it new 3 years ago and I find it doesn't wash well either. The soap cup often doesn't open and the bottom rotating arm just broke off last night. I don't like the way you can't fit in large dishes and it really doesn't dry well either. I find mine to be loud, if I'm in the next room which is separate from the kitchen I have to turn up the t.v. quite loud to hear it. We juat bought a ge tall tub and what a difference. We find it cleans really well and is so much better for fitting dishes in. We've only had it one day but so far it's so much better and no more expensive than the other one was, just an idea if you need a good mid range dishwasher.

Leaves much to be desired
by: Avah's mom

I hate to complain, really, but while my Frigidaire Ultra Quiet III is indeed quiet, it leaves much to be desired in the washing department. I can run this while the baby is in her playpen approximately 10 feet away, that's great, but isn't the whole point of having this stylish looking thing in my kitchen to get the dishes clean?

This unit came brand new with the condominium I purchased in 2005, and I must admit that even in white, which I consider outdated, it's attractive as far as appliances go with its sleek modern look. However, within 3 weeks of moving in, the hinge on the soap compartment stopped working and would not close. This was just the beginning.

The top circulating wash blade stopped working within 6 months, and I had a repair man come out to fix it, this lasted another 9 months. Now I make sure that there are enough gaps in the dishes on the bottom so that the stuff on the top actually gets cleaned, somewhat cleaned. This is aggravating to say the least.

I realize that all dishwashers need to have their bottom grids removed and cleaned from time to time, but this one is especially bad as there are a lot of nooks and crannies for food to not only get stuck in, but to create a nasty build up in a matter of 12 wash cycles. Yep, I counted. The bottom wash blade becomes absolutely clogged with small particles and actually gets greasy, so I use q-tips to get into the crevices, yuck.

Ok, you are probably thinking that I am lazy and do not give my dishes a quick scrape or rinse before I load up the machine. But that is far from the truth. I not only scrap, but I rinse off the large particles. I figure that I am going to have to resign myself to either having a high maintenance unit that I hate, or coughing up $500+ for a new dishwasher. And I have no choice but to say that it will not be another Frigidaire Ultra Quiet III.
