GE 18 Inch Built In Dishwashers Overview
If you are in the market for a new dishwasher, the number of options available can be somewhat surprising. Today I will be taking a look at the 18 inch built in dishwashers made by GE. There are 2 basic models. GE 18 Inch Dishwashers OverviewThe GSM1860N is stainless steel and the GSM1800N is available in black on black(BB) and white on white(WW). Besides the color and material differences, the only difference between the models is that the GSM1800N requires a kit which is available from GE for ¼ inch panel capability. Both models come with a limited one year warranty on parts and labor for the entire appliance. A Closer LookThese dishwashers have a 120 degree inlet water capability and are ADA compliant. Each has a 550 watt calrod heater and the capability of washing delicate crystal and china. With turn-to-start controls, 2 plastic cup shelves, and dial indicators that let you know what cycle the dishwasher is on, these models are jam packed with features. Each model has 7 cycles and 12 options, is Energy Star qualified, and has dual pumps and motors. The heated dry setting can be turned on and off and there is a separate option for heavy and light wash cycles, as well as normal wash. The doors close with a squeeze latch and both models have a standard lower rack. Each dishwasher comes equipped with a plate warmer and a pots and pans option. There is a rinse only option and these models do feature a rinse aid dispenser. The silverware basket is a standard one, as is the upper rack. There are 2 wash arms, one on the lower level and one at mid-level. There are a total of four wash levels and the machines both use the standard wash system. They have standard motors, but are equipped with the Quiet 1800 sound insulation package for quieter operation. All in all, these models are both rich with features. GE 18 Inch Dishwashers Customer OpinionsThere are quite a few reviews of these models available online. When it comes to the 1800, the main complaints were price and installation. Neither seemed to be enough to keep people from buying the models, however. The main installation problem is simply that the machine must be perfectly level in order to function properly. Customers agreed that the dishwasher performed extremely well, and did an excellent job when given dishes that still had foods and sauces left on them. All in all, this dishwasher gets rather excellent reviews. As far as the 1860 is concerned, the reviews are quite positive. The main drawback cited is that this eighteen inch model costs more than a number of twenty four inch models. That said, customers seem to agree that you get a great deal of features for your price. The china and crystal setting seems to work quite well, and the stainless steel garners great reviews for its practicality. Customers appreciate being able to remove the upper rack in order to wash large pots, and some people seem to really enjoy the fact that the dishwasher has a plate warmer. All in all, this dishwasher gets rather excellent reviews, and I am impressed by the amount of people who recommend dishwashers made by GE. Final ThoughtIn summary, the 18 inch dishwashers made by GE seem to be reliable and of high quality. It certainly pays to do some comparison shopping and look at many different brands and models before coming to a decision, but as far as these models go, they seem to perform quite well. GE does indeed seem to make a quality dishwasher.
