GE Appliances 18 in. Built-In Dishwasher

The GE Nautilus dishwasher was built into my apartment when we moved in two years ago. The apartment has been around for three years, therefore this dishwasher is relatively new. It is a white standard GE Nautilus.

Overall, it works pretty well. It has enough space for a week’s worth of dishes and there are multiple cycles that you can put it on, however I mainly put it on the full cycle and occasionally the quick cycle if I need my dishes washed in under an hour. There are the traditional holes in the dishwasher for putting in the soap and all that. Sometimes the soap container will not close correctly, but after a little jiggling of the latch it starts to work well for a while.

The one downside that I have noticed lately is that it is not doing a good job cleaning some of the dishes. Although we frequently wash everything off plates and bowls, any sort of sticky substance like oatmeal has trouble coming off in the GE Nautilus. Other dishwashers I have had in the past have not had this problem, so that was a little disappointing.

Another downside is that this dishwasher is extremely loud when it goes through its cycles. It makes a really loud buzzing noise and you can definitely hear the water swishing around in there. Usually I have to close the door in the kitchen area to keep the sound from traveling around the rest of the apartment.

Overall, I probably would not ever choose to buy this dishwasher. However, since I live in an apartment I do not really get a choice of what kind of dishwasher I have. Therefore, this one will be with me until the end of this year and hopefully it will start cleaning my dishes a little bit better.
