GE Model GSD4800

by Erin Moore
(Gardner, KS)

We moved into our house about two years ago and this is the dishwasher that came with the house. My first impression is that is was much quieter than the old one we had i our previous house. It isn't one of the super quiet ones, but you can be on the phone in the same room as the dishwasher and still hear the conversation.

The dishes have always come out very clean. I have used most of the cycles and have never had any problems.

I have tried to not use the heated dry feature but the things on top are almost always still wet, even after sitting all night. Even with the heated dry the things on top are often wet. This hasn't been too much of an issue though since things are clean.

One of the frustrating things has been the wheels. The bottom rack has four wheels on the front, two on each side, and two in the back. Not too long after we moved in the front wheels started coming off.

When the rack was pulled out, one or more wheels would come off making it impossible to slide the rack until the wheel was put back on. The wheel pops on easily, but it is very frustrating. All four wheels come off at different times and there is no easy way to fix them.

I have also found it difficult to find new wheels. When I did find them they were $7 each.

This might not seem too expensive, but the back wheels are only $2 each to replace. So, they charge significantly more for the wheels that obviously have a problem.

Overall I would give this washer a good rating. It cleans well and drys pretty well. I am just not happy with the wheels and how much they cost to replace.
