GE Tall Tub Dishwasher/Model#: GLD4600NWW
This washer came with the house we bought 3 years ago. It is not GE’s base model, but it’s close. We did not upgrade and it is just the standard dishwasher with no extra frills. In the 3 years we have used it, we have only had one problem. It was still under full warrantee so GE came and fixed it for free.
A sensor went out on the control panel and the repair man said that it happened all the time after a year and a half or so. We haven’t had any trouble since.
It washes very well. It does leave food particles on the dishes occasionally though. In addition, the holes the water shoots out of get easily clogged with food. It only has basic cycles as well—normal, pots and pans, glassware and sanitize. The sanitize cycle only works if the water is hot enough which means the thermostat on your hot water heater needs to be turned up enough. It explains this in the manual and tells you what temperature water it needs. I used the cycle without adjusting the water and the cycle didn’t complete.
This machine is much better than a basic model or an apartment style dishwasher, but it is not the best out there. It gets the job done. On the plus side as well, it is very quiet. The loudest noise I have ever heard coming from it was just a low hum.
I would recommend this washer to someone who wants an adequate dishwasher for a reasonable price.
