Kenmore brand opinions and customer service

Several years ago, I think it was around 1998, my ex-husband and I were duped into buying a Kenmore Dishwasher at Sears, that just wasn't worth the $400 that we paid for it.

The dishwasher worked just fine, but as far as the price, it just wasn't that special. The dishes did get pretty clean. Even the ones that we threw in and didn't actually rinse off.

Now as far as stuck on food, it obviously had some difficulty with that, but not too many dishwashers can proudly claim to clean stuck on foods in one shot.

The only thing I didn't like about the dishwasher was it was a water hog. By that I mean it really wasn't energy efficient. Plus there was no way to keep it from not going through all of the cycles like, wash, rinse and dry without manually shutting it off.

Kind of inconvenient if you're not home when the dishwasher is running. Also the only setting for temperature was extremely hot. Another not-so energy efficient downfall.

I must admit however, even after sitting on a back patio and in storage for several years, the dishwasher is still running. Pretty impressive, if you ask me.

Kenmore better than Maytag
by: Anonymous

I had a kenmore for over fifteen years then one day it died on us. I took the opportunity to upgrade all kitchen appliances and bought Maytag. What a mistake that was, barely a year later the expensive Maytag dishwasher broke down, I found out by accident (since the company never mentioned there was a recall on the model I purchased)of its faulty heating system that could ignite a fire. The company refused to refund me all my money since they claimed it was broken dishes (heat explosion) what damaged the motor. I will never buy Maytag again even if they claim to be number one. Now I have a Kenmore smartwhash 13742 and I am finally at peace.

Midrange Kenmore dishwasher gives us no problems
by: Anonymous

The day our old dishwasher broke two years ago, I cheered. I hated that machine for many reasons, including hard water stains, poor layout, and rusty, broken off pieces from the top rack.

We bought a new, moderately priced Kenmore dishwasher at Sears, and overall, I would say it was a pretty good value.

We are on a budget, and the most important features overall to us were layout and noise level.

The Kenmore fits a lot of dishes on both the top and bottom racks, and contains several small, detachable organizers for silverware and other small washables. We have babies, so it is nice to have a good spot for bottle and sippy cup pieces, as well as pacifiers.

The noise level is moderate, but the Kenmore features a start-delay where you can set the machine to begin washing in 2, 4, or 6 hours. We set ours to wash in the middle of the night, so we are not bothered by the noise.

The dishwasher is black, so it is very easy to keep looking clean. Also, you able to easily lock the machine to keep your children from opening the door.

The machine features an easy-to-use button panel, accessible to anyone. The dishwasher is modern in style and hardworking in function.

We have not had a single problem with the dishwasher thus far and would purchase it again.

I recommend kenmore
by: Audra

We purchased our Kenmore Dishwasher at the Sears location in Monroeville, PA. When we buy appliances, we will purchase an item even if it is a bit more expensive so long as the extra money spent is worth it long term. We have been very satisfied with the performance of our dishwasher. Features include high power scrub for dirty pots and pans and a variety of wash cycles to meet our needs.

The inside of the washer is stainless which lends to the overall efectiveness of the unit. To help save money, we buy our detergent in bulk from a warehouse store.

This heavy duty washer allows you to put heavily soiled dishes and pots/pans into the washer provided you change the filter occasoinally. We are big on rinsing dishes before loading them to cut back on the amount of residue. However, this machine has managed to wipe clean even the most challenging stains from cooking (grease, stuck on food, etc). The warranty is great and the cycles are efficient and environmentally friendly.

We have been very pleased with the performance of this machine and we are glad that we paid the extra money for a higher end model. It has been very well worth the investment.

Dishes come out very clean and dry. We have never had to repeat a wash once. We really like the power cycle which operates with high powered water jets to get grime off of our cooking pans.

I highly recommend Kenmore as they sell quality products and the staff is very well versed in all of the equipment.

if I couldn't afford the Maytag, I would get another Kenmore.
by: Anonymous

I have a Kenmore dishwasher and it is fine. However, it is noisy and makes the strangest sounds sometimes.

I would never leave the house with it running, fear of something flying out of it. The dishwasher cleans the dishes very very well and I would not hesitate to purchase another Kenmore.

In the past I have had a GE Dishwasher and it was worthless. You get what you pay for. If I could purchase another dishwasher today, I would purchase a May Tag.

I do not know the model, however they are the quietest, nicest dishwashers you can get. My parents bought a May Tag 2 years ago. When it is running, you don't even know it is on. It cleans exceptionally well.
