    engineering failure - controls corrode
    by: Anonymous

Hi, I am a fan of Kenmore products and own a Kenmore freezer, washer, dryer, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The dishwasher is a KENMORE ELITE 665. 13964K015 and has caused trouble from the beginning. This product has a problem with moisture (steam) from within reaching the push-button panel on top. The result is corrosion. We bought it in 2012. After a short time, the unit stopped working for 2 weeks then the push-button board dried out and it worked again. This same scenario happened often, especially around the holidays. Now, the board is dead and corroded, and drying out does not help, as the components have now been destroyed from prolonged corrosion. ENGINEERING FAILURE. If I get another board for $300+ and install it myself, the cause of this problem can never go away. There is no recall to solve this engineering failure. We tried using the SEARS repair people in the beginning, they were very delayed (October until January) and extremely discourteous on the phone.... then, when I was away at work a service man pushed his way past my wife (who was home alone)into my house. She was afraid. I will never allow this possibility again. I will do my own repairs. This unit worked well if and when it worked, but Sears does not seem to stand behind their products or service as they once did in years gone by. Otherwise, they would correct their mistakes without putting the cost upon their loyal customers. I understand long-term issues cannot all be engineered away when a new product is introduced, but don't put the burden of failure on your customers. Have a recall!

Elite 1396 lasted 2 month and 1 day then broke
    by: Anonymous

Our dishwasher was installed Jan 12,2012, and lasted 2 months and 1 day before leaking out of bottom right corner. Service tech could not come for 2 and 1/2 weeks. Terrible service from sears. I have to take dishwasher back to sears by myself for them to refund money. Customer service is terrible.

    WARNING !!!
    by: CB Oz

This is our 2nd dishwasher in 4 months.
The 1 st one leaked from the bottom right door, they replaced it and the 2nd one had a loud clunk when opening the door. The service guy jammed cardboard in the door to correct the problem but broke the control panel in the process. He replaced the panel and left. Next day the dishwasher was dead. Same service guy came back installed a NEW panel and started the dishwasher then left. When it was finished we unloaded it and found the dishwasher dead again !
    Waiting for service again...
