We bought the Kenmore because it was promised to be the most quiet on the market. The unit boasted "quiet guard delux". It makes a little more noise than our Kenmore refrigerator. Needless to say, when both units are on, it's a very loud kitchen.
Our last dishwasher was a Bosch and you could stand by it and not be able to hear it run.
My next unit will be another bosch as I'm through with Sears products.

Easy to use controls by: LadyBlueSilver
When it was time to buy a new dishwasher, I dreaded the prospect. I dislike trying to find good appliances. But, the old one was on it's last legs and really didn't clean the dishes anymore. So off I went to Sears as they normally have an excellent selection. I told the salesman what I was looking for and he helped me pick out the Kenmore Elite 24 in. with the Ultra Wash HE system.
I couldn't wait to get it home. It has an increased capacity tub and with two kids this is a necessity. They always have dirty dishes to be washed somewhere. After the first dinner, I happily put the dishes in my new dishwasher. I turned it on and was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it ran. All appliances have some noise but at least this one didn't rattle like the old one was doing.
The controls were easy to see and easy to use. It even has a control lockout and start button memory. Of course it has status lights on the front so you know what the dishwasher is doing at what time. It only took about an hour to clean the dishes. As I pulled the plates from the washer, I giggled a little bit. The plates were sparkling and I could see myself at the bottom of my pans. The silverware just shined. I loved my new dishwasher.
The washer features smart wash sensor washing, automatic temperature control, water filtration, and a self cleaning filter. The upper rack is removable or adjustable to help fit any size dish. And you can run it to wash only the upper rack if need be. You can even wash your china with the special china setting on the dishwasher.
It was a good buy and one I definitely recommend to anyone who wants a good deal on a dishwasher.

Copes with even my largest pans by: Heather
When our twelve year old dishwasher died last year I went into a panic. With three kids I was barely keeping on top of the dishwashing with a machine, so living without for more than a short time wasn’t an option. So we did what most folks do, and dashed straight out to Sears with a selection of our plates and bowls to test drive a replacement.
After looking at the various models in our price range, we decided to make our first break from the branded Whirlpool appliances with a Kenmore. Of course, this Kenmore is almost certainly a rebranded Whirlpool, but it had some really nice features that we wanted to take advantage of.
The first was the stainless steel tub. The steel is usually cleaner, less likely to fur up with hard water deposits, and it retains the heat of the water better so that drying is significantly faster. There is also less potential for mold growth and you don’t have to worry about discoloration if you eat a lot of tomato products but don’t like pre-rinsing your dishes.
The second thing we really liked was the “Tall Tub” option, which allows us to move the top rack up and down. If we’ve got big pots and pans in the bottom, the rack goes up. Tall glasses in the top? The rack goes down. It changes position easily and this has definitely saved us a lot of hand washing of larger items. They all fit! Even my big stock pot fits in this dishwasher!
And speaking of making things fit, the silverware holder can be reconfigured so that if you have a lot of things loaded on the bottom, you can just put in as much of the holder as you want. So if you’ve been baking a lot, for example, you can put your mixing bowls, your baking trays, and then just enough of the silverware holder to deal with beaters and spoons. We think that’s a very clever feature.
We also really like the variable cycles. There’s an energy saving Smart Wash cycle, a normal cycle, pots and pans, Turbo Zone, and even a Sani-Rinse option. I wouldn’t trust it to sterilize baby bottles, but it does seem to leave crockery very clean.
Additionally, we choose to not run the heated dry on this dishwasher, but it has never mattered as the dishwasher washes at a high enough temperature that the dishes come out dry anyway. Beware though when you open the dishwasher just after it finishes running. If you have glasses, you’ll be fogged up for at least a minute afterwards!
All in all, we’re very pleased with our purchase. It’s quiet, it fits our crockery well, and it can cope with even my largest pans. We’d definitely give this one an A.
