I bought mine just 2 years ago and it recently just quit working. Sears seems to think its my fault because I didn't buy the extended warranty. I just bought a Samsung instead of trying to fix this one. Echoing others' comments here, it never cleaned very well. I'm extremely disappointed. Never a Kenmore again.

Clean the filter screen by: Tim in Atlanta
I've seen comments on another site re cleaning the filter screen to restore good water pressure / good cleaning action:
"....you'll need to remove the lower section of the water transfer pipe. This is the flat wide plastic pipe that delivers water to the upper sprayer. It snaps into the pump and if you remove the srew on the back wall of the washer the pipe will swing out of your way. No need to remove it completely. The big round screen is held in by three or four star screws. You'll need a star driver or a set screw driver. Once you remove those screws the screen should pop off. You may need to wedge it off with a screw driver or a dull knife. Once the screen is off the plastic housing (right in the front, covering the lower plastic screen is held in with one screw. I can not remember if it is also a star screw or not. I think it is in the front part of the screen. This screen snaps into place so you'll have to "unsnap" it. As I remember, it sort of folds forward into place. Once it is off you can see the metal "grinder" below and that's where all the good stuff clogging the water flow will be found!
I used a wet/dry shop vac to suck it all out.
Then the fun part, put it all back together!
Put a cup in the top rack right side up and give it 20 seconds of wash and it should be full!
****Be careful not to drop the screws into the motor!****

Food on dishes by: Sad Home Owner
For a few months this dishwasher was great, then all downhill. It leaves food on the dishes and no matter how well i clean it, check water temperature, and use a rinse agent, same thing. I have taken the washer apart, cleaned the bottom part and still no luck. I have pretty much experience and have had luck with much cheaper dishwashers in the past. The sear repair guy who visited under warrenty, said "use more detergent". He tested all things and no luck. Now i am stuck with a $1000 waste of money and dirty dishes to boot.

This May Be Your Problem by: Anonymous
You have to be careful in scraping your dishes before loading them into the machine. There is a trap inside where objects like olive pits and larger debris accumulate. Old machines had an easily accessible basket for this stuff that you just popped out, emptied and replaced. Now that debris gathers inside and, when there's enough accumulated, the machine doesn't clean. The apparatus at the bottom has to be disassembled to get at the problem, a real design flaw. The service guy who just fixed my machine said the Europeans have now gone back to the removable debris basket design. Talk about a "no brainer."

Does not clean dishes by: Anonymous
I can't stand to use my kenmore elite quiet guard ultrawash deluxe dishwasher. It leaves most of the dishes dirty. I usually pre wash the dishes by hand and then stick them in the dishwasher for sanitary purposes. Does anybody has a fix for this problem?

motor broke by: Anonymous
My dishwasher is less than two years old and while it was very quiet, did a great job of cleaning the dishes etc. it is now without a motor and sump assembly.
Less than two years old! Sears repair man commented he 'sees this all the time'. Hmm...
Cost to repair - over $400! May as well start with a new one.
Very disappointing. This dishwasher cost me over $900 and to get less than two years out of it is nothing short of disappointing.
