Kenmore UltraWash Model 665.15821691

by Nancy
(NW Arkansas)

Kenmore UltraWash Model 665.15821691. In 1997, my husband and I bought this “state-of-the-art” dishwasher from our local Sears retail store. It still runs and washes dishes wonderfully today. It is very quiet and has powerful sprayers below both the upper rack and the lower rack. Because we have hard water (lots of limestone in the water table), our racks themselves have become brittle and many of the tines or spikes have broken off.

We contacted the local dealer and found out they cost more than one hundred dollars ($100) each to replace. So, we have to be creative when loading dishes in places, but the dishwasher still runs a clean, sparkling load. The dishwasher has a heavy-duty cycle for pots and pans as well as a “quick rinse” cycle that is excellent for softening stuck on food.

The water miser cycle is an excellent quick wash for dishes out of storage. One unique feature of the dishwasher is that if you’re hot water heater is out of hot water or even just running low, it will hold the water in a reservoir and heat the water before running the cycles. This ensures you always have hot water for you dishes. Kenmore appliances (for our family at least) have been extremely reliable and cost effective. I would caution against purchasing the extended warranties.

As soon as you get home with your purchase, the warranty company will start calling with “great” offers to upgrade and extend your warranty. We are very pleased with the water-saving features of the dishwasher and appreciate the delay wash setting.

Once the dishwasher is loaded, we set it to begin washing at night year round. When we built our house, we included a slot in our custom cabinets that placed the dishwasher off of the floor about two feet.

This allows easy loading and unloading without constantly having to bend over. And this model comes with a customizing kit to add a door panel to match your cabinets.

Kenmore Ultrawash Quietguard.

We bought our dishwasher from Home Depot. We purchased it because our other dishwasher was leaving powdery residue on our dishes after we washed them. We purchased the dishwasher in February of 2008, so we have had it for around 9 months.

The one thing that I really love about this dishwasher is the time delay on it. Not only does it have perfect settings for high temp, heavy wash and all that, but you can also delay the wash cycle for up to 6 hours.

This means no more forgetting to start the dishwasher before I go to bed. Most of the time after dinner, I am attempting to get the kids bathed, and wash their dirty clothes. This uses a lot of hot water. With the time delay, I can load the dishwasher while they are bathing, and I am washing their clothes, and put the soap in it, then hit the delay for 2 hours and walk away.

This allows plenty of time for me to focus on kids, clothes, and getting them into bed, and reading their books without worrying about forgetting to start the dishwasher. Since I use a high temp wash, this allows time for the water heater to get hot again, before washing, so I do not end up washing in nothing but cold water. Then once kids are in bed, I can sit down and relax because I know the dishwasher will start on its own.

It washes the dishes great. On those nights, when I can only rinse the dishes and do not have time to scrub scrub scrub, I can rinse them load the dishwasher and still feel confident they will come out clean.

I would surely recommend this dishwasher to many other busy moms out there. I wish my washing machine was as reliable as my dishwasher. I know that when I have to purchase another dishwasher, I want another one just like this one.

Kenmore Ultrawash

by Lynn
(Akron, Ohio)

I love the Kenmore Ultrawash dishwasher. I have had it for several years, but it still cleans and dries the dishes amazingly.

We bought the dishwasher from a Sears store at the local mall after shopping around, but mostly because we had other Kenmore products in the past (including washing machines, microwaves, dryers, etc.) that had always worked well and lasted a long time.

What makes it special is how it cleans the dishes even if they are pretty dirty when you put them in. I have had other models (Kitchenaid and Whirpool) and although they cleaned OK (they may not have been the better models since they were in rental properties), they still left food on dishes. If the dishes were not almost completely washed before placing them in the dishwasher they came out with food or remnants of it stuck to them. And then, why bother running the dishwasher and wasting water and electricity if you've practically hand-washed them anyway.

It has been very reliable (no problems at all) and we use it almost daily with a full load of dishes.
I would definitely recommend this brand and model to anyone needing a new dishwasher. It's the best I've ever had!

Kenmore Ultra Wash Quiet Guard

(Michigan)

Extremely disappointed. Bought in 2004 and has had two repairs already. It was recalled for the heating element which was replaced no charge. In 2006, we had to have something fixed with a fuse in the control panel that cost us $125.

In 2007, we noticed water damage on the our drywall. My husband pulled the dishwasher out and felt condensation on the back of the washer which left a black ring on the dry wall.

We ran the dishwasher away from the wall and saw that it was leaking water from the front side. We are so disappointed with Sears and all of our Kenmore appliances.

Do not buy this dishwasher!!!!

Kenmore Ultrawash Quietguard3

This is the best dishwasher that I have ever used. I just moved into my house and this dishwasher was already installed. I never had a problem with my old dishwasher and I thought all dishwashers are made the same. I didn't really think twice about it. Boy, was I wrong.

The Kenmore is far superior to the one that I used to use. When I ran my old dishwasher, I definitely could hear it across the room. It wasn't an absurd noise; it was just a dishwasher noise. But the Kenmore is quiet. It is so quiet that I don't even know if it is running or not, even when I'm like couple feet away.

In terms of washing capabilities, I can't really compare because my old one did its job as well. However, the Kenmore gets the job done fairly quickly. Since I can't hear it, I don't even know when it's done. =) This model also has auto-drying capabilities which works really well, unlike other that I've used. With my old dishwasher, I had to keep it open after washing so that it'll air dry.

I've never had a problem using it and all the options for light wash normal wash, pots and pans, are great. I only used the normal was and light wash though. It's really easy to use too. I got the hang of it the first time. There's nothing bad to be said about it. Although I have only used it for the last 2 months, it works perfectly.

Kenmore Ultra Wash Quietguard 4

by Kathy
(Wisconsin)

I purchased this dishwasher about a year and a half ago from Sears after doing some research in Consumer Reports.

This particular model is not top of the line but rather mid-line. I chose this model for the finish available-the shiny finish with no texture and for the Quietguard4 feature.

I have found that the dishwasher is quiet compared to most. It also has a delay feature so that dishes can be done when energy use costs are perhaps lower. The baskets are satisfactory. There is a removable silverware basket.

The dishwasher gets most things acceptably clean. Rarely have I had to return items to be washed again. I do maybe two loads per week so it does not get heavy use.I have used it to clean pots and pans as well as crystal and china plates.

There are five cycles to choose from and they include normal wash, quick rinse, smart wash, pots and pans. Options include high temp, sani rinse and heated dry. The cycles are all pretty long.

Thats my one criticism. I think the normal wash is way too long. There is a smart wash feature that is supposed to be able to gauge the length of time required for a particular load.
My previous dishwasher was an Amana with a stainless steel interior. It was a top of the line model.

The difference in the two models is that a stainless steel interior is superior to plastic. It appears cleaner. The Amana was even quieter. I often did not know it was even running. The Kenmore suits its purpose.

If I did several loads of dishes per week I would opt for an Amana with more features. The Kenmore is fine though for less frequent use.

Kenmore Ultra Wash QuietGuard3

by Sherry Tillinghast

We had this model installed after having our house built and quickly realizing that the builder's dishwasher model was complete garbage. Our retailer warned us that it would be loud, but we did not listen. Shame on us! Sometimes you have to learn the hard way.

We love our Kenmore because it is spacious, easy to load and unload, does a fabulous job of cleaning even the dirtiest dishes, and best of all, it is virtually silent. Our old model sounded like a train coming through our kitchen, but our Kenmore is like heaven.

Our kids usually detest helping out with household chores, but they actually bicker about who gets to load and unload the dishwasher. I'm not sure how a dishwasher can motivate boys to help out around the house, but my husband and I see it as a minor miracle.

One of the best features of our Kenmore is the ability to set a timer that determines when the machine will turn on. That way, if we are already running the washer, we can wait two or more hours before having the dishwasher start. Very cool!

Overall, we are tickled back with our decision to purchase a Kenmore dishwasher. The price was right, it consistently produces clean dishes, and it motivates our kids to lend a helping hand. What else could one ask for from a kitchen appliance?

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher

by Alissa
(VA, USA)

I own a Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher which was purchased from Lowes. I’ve had the dishwasher for almost two and a half years. It can hold a little more than 35 plates, bowls, cups, and glass combination's and a large number of utensils. When dishes are positioned correctly within the dishwasher, it does a pretty good job getting the dishes very clean.

The jets provide a strong stream of extremely hot water that cleans the dirt and food residue from the dish. Though the dishwasher has a number of positive features, there a few negatives. The dishwasher possesses two sections that hold dishes.

Unfortunately, these shelving units are two close to each other. I have been unable to load certain plates in one particular direction because of the short distance between the two units.

Secondly: because the jets emit a pretty strong stream of water, certain light weight dishes are bounced out of position and land at the base of the dishwasher. Sometimes, this results in a clog of the drainage system resulting in the dishes not being thoroughly clean.

It would be awesome to see dishwasher designed in such a way that limits the amount of dishes that end up in the bottom of the unit.
Overall, my Kenmore dishwasher is a really good unit for anyone interested in purchasing a pretty low cost but efficient system. I will say that if you have a big family and desire a dishwasher that can easily hold more than 40 or 50 pieces of dishes, you should consider another model.

Kenmore Ultra Wash Plus

by A Clarke
(Ontario, Canada)

The Kenmore Ultra Wash plus is a great little machine as far as portables are concerned. It is a little on the heavy side but if you don’t have a great distance to push it when it’s full, it’s not too bad. I got this dishwasher second hand because I didn’t have anywhere to install a built-in without losing a lot of cupboard space; cupboard space is a precious commodity around my house as there never seems to be enough of it to accommodate everything!

The particular model I have is an older one and it runs excellent. It is very roomy and even my oversized items such as pots and pans fit on the bottom shelf as long as the top shelf is raised to its highest level. This dishwasher has ample room for cutlery as well, which is nice. We don’t go through too many dishes at once so we will usually give them a rinse before loading the dishwasher and wait an extra day before turning it on. All of the dishes seem to come out sparkling clean.

This dishwasher has a drying feature as well which I use each and every time I use the washer so that I can avoid any streaks or water marks on my glassware and dark stone ware plates.
The only complaint I have about this model is it tends to be very loud.

It almost makes a “growling” noise as it rinses. If you can get past the noise or wait until you are out of the house to wash your dishes, the Kenmore Ultra Wash Plus is an excellent choice!

Kenmore Ultra-Wash Dishwasher

by Dana
(Texas,USA)

I have a Kenmore Ultra-Wash dishwasher. This has a glossy black modern looking front, with a digital front control panel that I find very convenient to use as opposed to the old timer control knob. I find it reasonably quiet and very good at washing just about anything that I put in there without having to pre-rinse the dishes.

I bought this dishwasher from Sears 10 years ago with a number of other appliances, while I was updating my kitchen area. The longevity that this appliances showed me over the years, makes me feel very good about the quality of the Kenmore brand. I don't buy everything that Sears sells, but I am very pleased with this Kenmore dishwasher.

It seems to efficiently wash the dishes with minimal noise, as a lot of times I'll turn it on at night when I go to sleep and the normal 90 minute washing cycle has never bothered me. I find it very easy to load the dishwasher as it seems to offer very flexible and adjustable placement in the top and the bottom shelves of just about anything I want to clean.

I've never had any broken dishes, and it's fairly easy to see if the double control arms will hit against the dishes when you load the top and bottom racks.

It not only sprays from the bottom in the traditional way of a dishwasher, but also has a top sprayer and in the middle, another rotating water spraying arm. Everything seems to be stainless steel or durable plastic on the inside of the washing compartment, which has never shown any rust marks or other signs of deterioration.

The only minimal wear seems to be on the ends of the racks where the dishes sit and rock back and forth during the cleaning cycles. I've had a number of Kenmore dishwashers in different houses, and this one goes right along with the other ones as far as being a very good deal.

While I have no need at the moment, I know from past experiences that replacement parts are readily available from the intricate motor parts below the main dish washer assembly to just a simple piece of its' shelving units.

Kenmore Ultra Wash

by Richard
(Gonzales, Louisiana)

I purchased this model in 1992 ( Along with Refrigerator and Oven) and have not had one ounce of trouble with it until now. It seems the pump has quit working. I am looking for a replacement of equal quality, not real sure as to which unit would be in comparison but any help would greatly be appreciated.
