Kenmore Ultra Wash Model 665.13492K600

by H M Walker
(Edmonton,Alberta Canada)

This dishwasher is a DISAPPOINTMENT; the racks impede the opening of soap dispenser, tea/coffee stains are not removed, utensil rack is too large and does not appear to allow water to wash/rinse utensils adequately; many are left with a film that seems to be soap.

Sears customer Service(aka repair) people do not give customer service...they tell you the water is not hot enough, but do not test water, and contradict themselves by saying the in-dishwasher element heats water before wash cycle begins. Our water is 125 deg.F. We checked to make sure it met manual requirements ourselves, and have had other dishwashers over the years so understand the importance of hot water.

Sears is a disappointment as they no longer give service; their repairmen(aka service) want to charge customers $120/130 to test machine when they know there's nothing wrong with it except DESIGN.

Our Sears shopping has been successful with other appliances over the years and as we are seniors on a fixed income we look for bargains. We thought this dishwasher was a bargain ($388) but it has proved to be no bargain; we cannot trust it to clean dishes.

bad experience with Sears
by: Anonymous

The machine is okay;quiet, washes decently, dries well with the use of a rinse aid. But, we have found Sears Customer Service to be absolutely atrocious! We initially went to Sears because of "an agreement" between Sears and our homeowners warranty.

We told the salesman the features we wanted and he showed us the machines that fit our requirements. We ordered a machine. When we got home, we looked the machine up on the internet only to find it did not have ANY of the features the salesman claimed it had. We called the salesman, he apologized profusely, said to come back the next day and we could order a different machine. We did and then it took us nearly three weeks to get our refund for the first machine (we thought they would just credit our account, not so).

They offered "next day delivery and installation plus haul away guaranteed." We ordered the machine on 11/23, it was installed 12/1. The installer said he wasn't "authorized" to remove the old machine even though I had a receipt that showed we had paid for removal services. The installer said it was "too much work" to raise the machine so there is a one inch gap between the top of the dishwasher and the countertop and the cabinet kickplate no longer fits below the appliance.

It took weeks and numerous trips to the showroom before Sears would accept the rebates that came with this model. And now the machine needs repaired and customer service keeps cancelling and rescheduling the service appointments with little or no warning and we still have not seen the repairman. Our third appointment is scheduled for tomorrow but I won't be holding my breath. I fear they are trying to drag their feet until the appliance is no longer under warranty.

As far as I know the "discount" from the agreement with the homeowners warranty was never applied. So all in all, the machine is passable but I will never purchase another applicance from Sears.

Small But Efficient Kenmore Ultra Wash Model
by: Anonymous

Pros
- Very quiet
– Cleans everything perfectly

Cons
- Not an energy saver
– Could be a little bigger to accommodate larger pots

This dishwasher was already in the house that I purchased about eighteen months ago. It’s a very nice looking unit, black in color and is built into the cabinet area of my kitchen. The machine measures 24” wide x 33 ¾” high. It is offered by Sears and sells for about $400.

For a small, built-in dishwasher, it has a lot of different features. It offers cycles for pots and pans, normal wash, water miser and light wash. There’s also an option for high-temperature wash if your dishes are really soiled and the food is already dried in. You can also choose the quick rinse cycle or the light wash cycle, if your dishes are not really soiled; there’s even an option for air dry. The white interior is spacious with two roll out shelves on the top and bottom, and three baskets for silverware.

The top shelf can hold forty glasses or cups and the lower shelf can accommodate all the dinner dishes used by a family of four. Although this is my very first dishwasher, I couldn’t be more pleased. The unit is efficient, runs very quietly and cleans the dishes better than I could, myself.

With the extra heat cycle, I feel that the dishes are more sanitized than if I washed them in the kitchen sink. The unit even has a timer that I can set for up to four hours in advance, in case I need to add things to it, before it actually starts. For the price, I think this is a great dishwasher. It’s dependable, quiet, saves time and is priced right.
