    Steam scorched wood cabinet
    by: Anonymous

The wood island where our dishwasher was installed now has a ruined end panel. We installed the dishwasher 3 years ago and just found the burn mark last week. This panel was next to the left side of the dishwasher and apparently heated steam/water traveling through the water tubes attached to the left side of the dishwasher scorched, swelled and ruined a 10" round area of the wood panel that sits next to these tubes. What the....?!? A call to KitchenAid was totally fruitless. They said that could not be caused by a properly operating KitchenAid dishwasher. Yeah right?

Have you read about all the Kitchenaid dishwasher fires on line. They say the same thing about those. Independent repair technician told me that it is not unusual and to put a shield between the dishwasher and the panel.

That doesn't fix my cabinet which is basically irreplaceable. The wood grain cabinet is a very intricate pattern of veneered Koa wood (all from one tree) and it matches all the other koa wood in the kitchen. Will never buy another product made by Whirlpool (including KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Maytag, etc)

    cheap racks
    by: Anonymous

I purchased this dishwasher 7 months ago. We are a family of 4, so it gets normal usage. The plastic wheels on the racks already broke and the dealer's comments were, of course they are exposed to all that water and heat. That is ridiculous. This was over $1,000 dishwasher and I am expected to accept that the plastic components are going to need to be replaced every year?
