Disadvantages
Unlike other dishwashers, which deliver excellent water filtration so that only clean water is being used in washing the dishes and glassware, this KitchenAid does not have water filtration features. There is no separate cutlery tray for this dishwasher, which can be useful for many homemakers who like preparing huge dinners or baking.
Genuinely subperb washing, exceptionally quiet, minimal prep to dishes before going in, always use the recommended Finish Powerball cleaner which achieves clean & clear results consistenly. Tried using up our old Cascade cleaner---results cloudy---so gave the Cascade away. No problems whatsover. Purchased in Nov 2011. By the way: "lack of filter" is NO issue---the machine has a superior chopping system that eliminates the need for filtering. I studying the mechanics of the system first before purchasing----and the detailed explanation convinced me and the results we have confirm it.
As far as cutlery tray: we use the long silverware tray with the stand up sections plus the special front right corner tray for longer pieces. Works great.
We went into the store to buy CR's 'Best Buys' but this machine had it all over those, once you studied them up close---and only cost slightly more. Very happy!

Leaks by: Anonymous
From the time we bought this dishwasher it has been a problem. The gasket that lines the dishwasher to prevent it from leaking keeps coming loose. We have had service people come 4 times to reinstall it caulk it in. This doesn't work. We are now arguing to get a replacement dishwasher.
