Maytag JetClean WC284

I have no idea how old this portable machine is, but it is by no means new. My kids brought it home from trick-or-treating 2 years ago because one of the neighbors was throwing it away.
I was more than a little skeptical and was sure that it was a waste of time dragging it up the 3 flights of stairs to my apartment, but I didn't want to hurt their feelings. For the price, I am more than pleased! I mostly use the full cycle, including the pots and pans part, and its pretty quiet. It leaked once and I was going to have to throw it away until I noticed that the cause of the leak was a Barbie shoe wedged under the gasket on the door.
It has been a very reliable machine that I'm seriously beginning to think is going to perhaps outlive ME! I use Cascade Complete in it and I would use Jet Dry, but there is no dispenser for it. The hanging basket type of rinse agent seems to work fine it in, though. It has a butcher block top that has really come in handy and I'm not sure how I ever managed without it. There ARE a few things that I really don't like about this machine.
There is no heating element in it, so it relies on the very low hot water pressure of my building. Also, it loads totally differently than any other dishwasher I've ever used. Plates, bowls, and the silverware basket are all on the top shelf and the cups, glasses, and plastics go on the bottom!
That took some getting used to. All in all a good machine for the price I got it for, but It would not be my first choice were I to go buy a new one today.
