Maytag MDBS561 Dishwasher
I have had several dishwashers throughout my life and apparently just took them for granted. When my last dishwasher died, we went to Sears to buy a new one. Mistake #1 in my opinion. The dishwasher with delivery was about $500.
With install, it would’ve been closer to $600. We get it home, install it and life is good again… for about 2 months. Then the dishwasher decided to work only when it felt like it.
So I did some searching on the internet and discovered a few common issues with this particular model, call for repairs; two parts, three repairmen and four weeks later the dishwasher is finally fixed. Now, during this entire time, I had no dishwasher to use, even though I had a brand new for a lovely price of $500! Once it’s fixed, any normal person would think life is good again, but alas, it is not.
Now I have a dishwasher that barely washes the dishes. It spits all the little bits of residue right back on to the dishes and I have to hand wash them anyway. Way too many problems and since this is now the 2nd appliance I bought from Sears in 5 years that turned out to be a huge waste of money, I can tell you I will not be returning to Sears or buying anything Maytag ever again.
Good things about this dishwasher are few and far between. I do like the cycle options, there are many to choose from. I also like the layout of the racks. I can put small things like light weight kids cups in the top rack and hold them in place with a detachable cover. The silverware tray allows me to put smaller items like little toys or slippy cup valves in without them winding up all over the place.
Pros
- The cycle options
- The layout of the racks
Cons
- It spits all the little bits of residue right back on to the dishes
