Miele Model G1140 SCU
by Gin
(Serrone (FR), Italy)
About three years ago I bought this dishwasher in Paliano, (FR) Italy in an appliance shop. It was my second Miele, the first being a wash machine also purchased the same place. When I return to the states I will be looking for the Miele, made in Germany. They are expensive but I’m impressed.
I have had several different brands throughout the years and until now, Maytag was my favorite. I especially like the top rack for silverware and such. Actually the other two racks are pretty easy to use too. The only thing I’d probably look to change is the stainless steel front which I can never get to quit spotting.
In the past when I used the extremely high heat cycles, it seemed to damage my plates, etc., sometimes melting. But somehow the heat is distributed throughout and there are no particular hot spots. There are seldom foods that don’t come off.
Normally I try to select appliances with less electronics, that is, I prefer the simple push buttons, but so far I’m having no problems with this model. There is a drain piece that makes cleaning pretty easy. When an occasional olive pit finds its way into the washer, it is safety held captive till I remove it.
I don’t remember how it rates with sound, as some people are into the quiet, but that isn’t a factor for me here. I do have limited electricity here so I trust this is an acceptable model for energy rating.
