Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher model # 665.15882

We picked out our dishwasher when we were building our new home in 2001. We bought a Kenmore dishwasher because they have always been reliable. Also, the store had a great deal on the appliance.

We love the features our dishwasher has. It is the quietest dishwasher I have ever had. We designed our house with the kitchen open to the family room. So, you can hear any noise in the kitchen very well. I set my dishwasher to start after supper almost every night . We can sit in the family room and watch tv completely undisturbed byt the dishwasher sounds.

I am able to get everything into the racks, even large pieces. The top or bottom rack can be raised or lowered in order to fit taller items. It's very easy to adjust them as needed. Also, the tines on the rack can be moved and actually laid down if you have a really large casserole dish to wash. It also has clips that hook onto the tines and hold cups or lids in place.

I also love all the different settings the dishwasher has. If I'm in a hurry, I can choose the Timesaver cycle and the dishes are washed and dried in 48 minutes. Also, there is a quick rinse cycle if you don't plan to wash the dishes that day. The dishwasher even has a cycle for fine china and crystal. In addition, it has a pots and pans and antibacterial cycle.

The only negative thing about this dishwasher is that sometimes, it does not clean everything. If I forget to rinse the dishes well or something dries on the dishes, it may not come off. It used to clean much better. I guess I may have to replace the dishwasher at some point. But, we will definitely purchase another Kenmore. We would not go with any other brand.

I hate this dishwasher! I loved my old Kenmore dishwasher and have been very pleased with their other appliances, so I have been loyal to the Kenmore brand. Not anymore. This dishwasher does not clean well. Even using the Pots and Pans mode along with the Turbo Zone, I still have to hand wash many items. A total waste of my money. It looks like I'm stuck with it for 15 more years. On the bright side, maybe they make them so poorly now, it will break down sooner and I won't have to wait as long to get a good washer.

Kenmore Ultra Wash Model 665.13492K600

This dishwasher is a DISAPPOINTMENT; the racks impede the opening of soap dispenser, tea/coffee stains are not removed, utensil rack is too large and does not appear to allow water to wash/rinse utensils adequately; many are left with a film that seems to be soap.

Sears customer Service(aka repair) people do not give customer service...they tell you the water is not hot enough, but do not test water, and contradict themselves by saying the in-dishwasher element heats water before wash cycle begins. Our water is 125 deg.F. We checked to make sure it met manual requirements ourselves, and have had other dishwashers over the years so understand the importance of hot water.

Sears is a disappointment as they no longer give service; their repairmen(aka service) want to charge customers $120/130 to test machine when they know there's nothing wrong with it except DESIGN.

Our Sears shopping has been successful with other appliances over the years and as we are seniors on a fixed income we look for bargains. We thought this dishwasher was a bargain ($388) but it has proved to be no bargain; we cannot trust it to clean dishes.

This was a great dish washer until just before the warranty expired. It did a better than average of cleaning the dishes and was very quiet.

It was taking 6 hours to run a cycle. It took 4 months to solve the problem since it refused to run consistently. The unit is now three and a half years old and exhibiting the same problems. This was not the least expensive DW available since it cost $549.99.

At the same time we bought a new stove which very shortly began to have a problem that was corrected under warranty and is now working fine.

Because the problem appears to be in the electronic timer I do not believe it is financially prudent to repair the DW since this is a very expensive part (approx $250.00)so I will probably trash it and look for another brand. I have difficulty recommending Kenmore products since my experiences have not been good.

The door sometimes doesn't close have to push it a couple of times. The panel where the tends (touch screen) wears and chips very easily this is the 2nd time in less than 3 yrs I have had it replaced. The good side, it's very quiet, it does a good wash
on the dishes and silverware. The plastic does not dry well.

Purchased 5/23/05

No problems. Unit performed well until last week. It has started making a very loud grinding noise while running.

Declined to service a 5-1/2 year old appliance.

Purchased a Bosch SHE 43F16UC due to the control buttons.

All the Kenmore's have a "touch" control.

Kenmore Model# 665

Our dishwasher came with the condominium we are renting and we love it. The dishwasher does what it's supposed to which is to clean dishes. You can choose between four cycle settings that depend on the contents of the washer. The cycles are for a normal wash, pots and pans, china, or a water mister. You also have the option to choose water heat or no heat drying.

We usually use dishwasher fluid that comes in a three in one package and it works great. We place the pack in the appropriate compartment in the washer. Then we set the knob to normal wash, pots and pans, quick rinse, or dry. We always set it to normal wash and the dishes typically are clean at the end of the cycle.

The only downfall to this machine is how loud it is. At times, when it is going through the cleaning process, you can hear the water sloshing around inside which can be very loud. I wouldn't recommend running the dishwasher at night, especially if it is next to your bedroom or if you have neighbors nearby that might hear it through the thin walls of a condo or apartment building.

Kenmore - Ultra Wash 665

by GadgetHero
(Cream Ridge, NJ)

We bought the Kenmore Ultra Wash 665 dishwasher about 8 years ago when we moved to this new home. I bought it at Sears and had it installed by them. We use it every day and have been very happy with it performance. It cleans anything we put in it and runs very quite as well.

It has two racks with plenty of storage for dishes, plates, glasses, and utensils as well. There are a number of options for washing various items and you can adjust the run time as well. We normally mix in all of the dishes in one load and run it every night.

The unit allows you to use soap powder or liquid soap and has a container for it on the inside of the front door. We have recently switched to the solid block of cleaner and have had great results with this. If you haven’t used these they are about 1 inch square and contain enough soap and rinsing agent for an average load. You can simply slide it into the slot on the door and your all set. It saves us the hassle of spilling soap powder on the floor.

In addition to the upper and lower racks which slide out for easy loading, there is a utensil cage that is removable and an extension shelf on the top rack for knives or odd shaped items like a pizza cutter. Having the utensil cage removable makes it easier to load and empty when the knives and forks are clean. Overall, I really like this dishwasher and would recommend it to others.

Kenmore Model 665

by James
(Nashville, Tenn.)

I am the owner of a Sears Kenmore Model 665 Dishwasher. It is about six years old and was purchased along with a washer/dryer combo from a Sears Discount outlet in the South Nashville area for around $200.

The front advertises itself as being equipped with “QuietGuard 2”. You may believe that advertising. This is the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned! The device comes with a maximum 12 hour delay for washing. I usually set the timer for it to wash overnight and have yet to be awakened by the wash action. My daughter’s bedroom is right above it and she sleeps soundly through the wash also.

The dishwasher has five wash cycles: Pots and Pans, Normal Wash, China/Gentle, Time Saver and Quick Rinse. The Pots and Pans wash takes the longest - about 80-90 minutes including the drying action. The Time Saver cycle is a simple wash with no heated drying that’s about 30 minutes in duration. I have yet to use the other cycles but am very satisfied with the cleanings so far.

There are also options for a “Hi-Temp Scrub” and a “Sani-Rinse” with all wash cycles. The front has lighted indicators for when the machine is sensing the right wash temperature and when it is heating the incoming water. At the end of the wash there are lights for when the dishes have been sanitized (using the “Sani-Rinse” option) and for when the dishes inside are through with the wash.

The machine has your standard two-tiered rack combination. The bottom rack has at least two fold-down wire holders that allow you to place a small turkey pan or 5 quart crock pot container inside. Most delicate items, plastic wares and cups fit reasonably well in the top rack.

You may use powered dishwasher soap or the liquid kind. There is an extra slot next to the regular soap holder for adding extra soap for the Pots and Pans cycle. If I had a complaint about this model it would be that you can sometimes easily overfill the regular soap slot resulting in the device not being able to open properly due to the powdered soap crusting during the beginning wash cycle. Otherwise, just be careful and you won't have any difficulties.

I paid $50 extra dollars to have the unit professionally installed by the good folks at Sears. As always, money well spent - I’ve never had a leak.

No trouble or breakdowns six years in. Everything inside comes out very clean. I very much recommend it’s purchase!

Kenmore Elite Model #665.13769K600

by Sara Gibson
(Alberta)

My husband and I bought our Kenmore dishwasher at the very end of 2006. We paid $800 for the thing (on sale). We went with the second-most expensive model (the only thing different about the top model was that it came in stainless steel) because it had a durable stainless steel interior, as well as being the 'Giant Tub Model'.

But our most important criteria was that it was QUIET. The salesman assured us that it was very nice and quiet, with it's 'QuietGuard Premium' rating, and he knew because he had the exact same dishwasher in his house. So. . . either he was lying, or he has a not-too-critical idea of 'quiet'.

In short, we are NOT impressed with this dishwasher. It is quite loud, and after only two years, the plastic cutlery rack started disintegrating, with the result that the little bits of plastic fell down into the grinder and caused it to malfunction.

My handy husband has had to completely take the dishwasher apart several times now to clean out all the bits of plastic from the grinder so that it would work properly again. Had he not been so handy, we would have paid the equivalent of 2 new dishwashers (in just four and a half years) to repairmen by now.

Also, the dishes only get clean if you use the 'Pots and Pans' setting, which of course uses more water than the 'Normal' setting. Maybe we got a 'lemon', but I'm not going to chance it. Our next dishwasher will NOT be a Kenmore.

Kenmore Sears Dishwasher Model 66517363300

by Wanda
(Pipe Creek, Texas)

We had this dishwasher for five years and were happy with it but had to have the repair man out several times to remove debris from the "Heavy Duty Disposal" I was amazed it would be full of bread ties, string, plastic and even broken glass."

This last time a wine glass broke and apparently entered the motor which is now frozen. Lesson learned is if the dishwasher begins to make a strange noise stop it immediately! We are looking at replacement or repairs of over $250 for a five year old unit. I notice the new Elite models are over $700 so wonder if it should be repaired?

Thanks for any suggestions. I wish there was an easily accessible filter or screen that would prevent these items from entering the motor as the "Heavy Duty Disposal" was supposed to do!!!
