Bosch Model SHX46A02UC/21

I have owned this dishwasher for 5 years and 4 months. For the 1st year the dishwasher worked very well, then it got noisy during the pump out cycle. We are now on our 3rd pump replacement (because of noise) and this week-end the dishwasher failed to fill with water.

Everytime we have to have a service tech come out it is $100.00 plus, the cost to keep this unit running is higher than the cost of a new unit.

Nice and quiet, but the controller failed after 3 years. Result is no hot water and cycles did not end. Bosch does not pay for labor to fix this issue.

Web search indicates that our case is not exceptional. Be warned.

Also, plastic parts inside the unit are bending and hinder opening of top drawer. I guess we'll get that fixed next time the controller conks out and save ourselves the labor cost.

Bosch, SH series

by Michelle
(Pewaukee WI)

We purchased our Bosch SH series dishwasher in October of 2005 from Grand Appliance in Brookfield WI for around $900. Although I hesitated at the price, we had heard Bosch had a reputation for making a great machine and we have not been disappointed.

The best part about our Bosch dishwasher is that it is nearly silent. I usually forget that it is even on until I hear the water gurgling going down the drain.

I love all the different settings. My favorite feature is the “top rack only” wash, so when my kids have gone through 20 sippy cups in a day but I have yet to dirty many other dishes I can conserve energy and water by using that setting and washing only the items in the top rack.

You also can set the Bosch to “OptiMiser” to conserve energy and water on any of the other 6 normal wash setting that vary from Quick Wash to Power Scrub Wash.

The only drawback to this dishwasher is that I have to clean out the trap/filter in the bottom from time to time and that is a disgusting job. However, if I did a better job of rinsing and clearing my dishes before putting them in that probably would not be as big of a deal.

Its easy to get lazy and throw the dishes in filthy though, because I have yet to see this machine meet a baked-on-casserole that it couldn’t clean off!

With its stainless steel interior the dishes aren’t only sanitized but come out dry within minutes of the end of the cycle as well.

Overall I would highly recommend a Bosch dishwasher to any of my friends and family that want a high performing, easy to use, reliable dishwasher.
