Whirlpool DU 1055

We purchased our dishwasher about 6 years ago, when we were doing a major kitchen remodel. Our old dishwasher had suffered from horrible rust stains from terrible well water. We were so excited to get rid of it!
We purchased it from Judd & Black, a local appliance dealer. At the time we were looking for a reasonable price and clean dishes.
We had done quite a bit of research through Consumer Reports, but had not been able to find the exact models that were recommended in their articles.
We knew we wanted a model with two spinners, a compartment for smaller items like lids, and it had to be black to match our other appliances.
We like this model very well.
It cleans the dishes adequately (although we usually pre-rinse - even though we know we shouldn't. Old habits die hard!)
One of the best features of this model is the delayed wash. You can set it to wash in 2, 4 or 6 hours. I love waking up to clean dishes, even though I never heard the dishwasher running! It is not a super quiet model, but I think it is the quietest in it's price-range.
It is very energy efficient, which we noticed on our power bills right away. We usually use the light wash cycle and forgo the hi temp wash & heated dry in an effort to reduce the cost per load of clean dishes. If we run it during waking hours, we open the door slightly at the end of the rinse cycle and that way the air flow dries the dishes.
For the price, this is a great dishwasher!
