Whirlpool DU1055XTSQ Built-in Dishwasher

by James
(United States)

One of the deciding factors (though not really a vital one) in purchasing our new home was the appliances that would be included. Out of a washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher, the Whirlpool DU1055XTSQ Built-in Dishwasher is the best.

The noise level is quite minimal, and this dishwasher gets the job done rather quickly and thoroughly. There are a few different settings one can use, depending on what exactly you are cleaning in the dishwasher at the time.

Obviously, for those dishes with caked on food or grease they still may require a quick hand scrub – but that is too be expected.

This puts a sparkly shine back on the majority of your dishes, silverware and glasses. It is Energy Star compliant, which is a brand name that most people (myself included) have come to trust.

This of course does not disappoint. It stands about two feet tall and blends in perfectly with the counter setup in our mid-sized kitchen.

I’ve only had experience with one other dishwasher in the past, and that was an old model so I can’t really compare and contrast them too well, only to say that obviously this Whirlpool is the better of the two appliances.

Good for low price

Pros:
- Much cheaper than other ones at the stores
- Good cleaning quality, even with dried-on food

Cons:
- Loud
- No cutlery rack!

This dishwasher was very cheap, which made me suspicious of if it would work well or not. I had seen a site on the internet mention that it was great, one of the top 10 dishwashers, but I was still skeptical. It cleans everything I throw at it great, I don't have to even rinse hard to clean things like dried sauce, jelly, or ice cream!

Unfortunately, it's a bit noisy, which scares my poor cats to death. It doesn't have fancy features like quick washing either, which is too bad, but I don't need that frilly stuff anyway.

What really outraged me, is that there was no cutlery rack! I was so shocked, am I supposed to wash my cutlery by hand? Then why bother with a dishwasher! But, unfortunately I'm on hard times, so the cheapness along with the cleaning quality is what made me decide this one head and shoulders above all others. It's not bad, but not the best out there.
