Whirlpool White Dishwasher, Model DU1055XTSQ

I purchased this dishwasher about 3 weeks ago from Best Buy, because my old dishwasher did a poor job of cleaning out my oily dishes.

I choose this model mainly because it was cheap and affordable. I tend to buy items that just do what I need them to do and don't include any expensive luxuries.

I like this dishwasher because it fits in with my plain old kitchen, and saves energy compared to my older dishwasher because it is Energy Star certified.

There is plenty of space to put my dishes inside, and it does a great job of cleaning out all the stains and sauces. This dishwasher is very quiet as well, if you were to compare it to my old one. I would definitely recommend this dishwasher to a friend.

There is also a very useful child protection key lock, so my children cannot accidentally open the dishwasher and stop the dish washing cycle.

The only disadvantage to buying this dishwasher is that the silverware drawer is quite small, but it is built right in to the dishwasher door. This actually gives me more room inside the tub for my dishes.

Also, this dishwasher takes less time to wash all my dishes when you compare it to my previous dishwasher.

Detergent dispenser failed 3 times NEW
by: Pete W.

This is new Whirlpool built-in dishwasher DU1055XTVQ1, very light use. Detergent dispenser either would not latch, would not unlatch during cycle, rinse aid leaked, and/or rinse aid did not dispense. Getting ready for 4th unit under (extended) warranty. Is it probable that problem is with wiring connections, not dispenser? What to tell serviceman? One thing is for certain, no more Whirlpool/Maytag purchases.

one I would recommend. NEW
by: Anonymous

My dishwasher was a bought from either Home Depot or Lowes, as a gift from my in-laws. We got about two an a half years ago. I love it. I run a load every day, and even though it's a lower priced sort of basic model, it works really well. It even cleans the messiest of lasagna pans if you use the pots and pans cycle.

As far as features go, there are several cycles available; light wash, regular and the aforementioned pots and pans. Of course, there is a rinse only option too. And my favorite, the high temp wash. Along with those options, there is a delay pad where you can choose to delay the start for two, four, or six hours. It's also worth noting that there are indicator lights that let you know exactly what cycle you are in. Oh, one more great feature; the silverware holder is attached to the door, and can be very easily removed to load and unload the contents of it. I find that it's great for taking to the sink and loading all my silver there, without having to bend repeatedly. It even opens up so you can put in small odd shaped items.

If I had to find fault with this machine at all, it would be the seal. It seems to get dirty rather easily, and when that happens you get a very small amount of water on the floor in mid-cycle.

All in all, this is a great machine.

Ripped off in Minnesota NEW
by: Ripped off in Minnesota

I spoke with the manufacturer this week who will do nothing about the damage this machine has done to my dishes. Plates and bowls have slowly become chipped around the edges since we installed this machine. They say no replacement rack with softer pegs is available, that I bought a low-end machine and that's that.
STAY AWAY FROM WHIRLPOOL, they don't support their equipment once they've got your money. Pass the word.

Great cleaning! NEW
by: Anonymous

I bought this dishwasher in Febuary of 2009 and it is absolutely awesome in getting baked on foods off without rinsing. This was something I looked for when buying a new one. It is fairly quiet but I recently had a problem with water not going into the washer. With it only being 18 months old and out of the 12 month warranty, I started freaking out a little bit. I read on-line about different things that I could possible do to fix the problem. To reset the dishwasher, try this first: Open door slightly and within seconds hit "Heated dry", "Normal wash", "Heated dry" and "Normal wash" and then close to the door back. If that doesn't work then just go and flip your circuit breaker off and on and try again. This worked for me without having to call a repair man and I hope it works for someone else as well.

mostly great NEW
by: Anonymous

Whirlpool DU1050 I have been very pleased with this dishwasher. I really like that the diswaher has the silverware tray in the door. This leaves lots of room on the bottom rack for dishes. I also like that the dishwasher has several different choices of cycles, therefore I can pick which cycle best fits my needs at the time.

In addition, to the things I like about the dishwasher there are a couple of items that I don't like about the dishwasher. One of most annoying problems with this dishwasher is that it is suppose to be a model that operates quietly. I still find that is very loud.

Finally, I do not like detergent dispenser, it often does not close properly or leaks detergent before the cycle runs.

bad customer service NEW
by: Steve

At 11 months old, the dishwasher stopped taking on water. Repairman came and did not have the part, Celluloid. Three parts have been delivered. The first Celluloid was defective. SECOND WAS MISSING A CLIP. Today the repairman came to install another Celluloid. The dishwasher is still not working. Power is at 25 instead of 110. He ordered a new timer. Called Whirlpool since I have been without a dishwasher for 3 weeks.

Explained two items on my machine have been faulty. It is 11 months old. After three weeks, it is not repaired. Have to be home for another day for repairs. They need 3 different repair cycles.

I would never recommend Whirlpool repairs or dishwasher. I have a lemon and whirlpool and Lowes will not stand behind it. I need total 3 repairs from them.

THIS MACHINE WAS RATED IN CONSUMERS REPORT AS GOOD.

Simple, effective machine NEW

Pros
- It has Sani Rinse option which can destroy almost all food soil bacteria.
- It makes very less noise

Cons
- It does not have a model in stainless steel
- It lacks the extra features which most of the dishwashers these days provide

Whirlpool DU1055XTVQ Built-in Dishwasher can be fixed once in your kitchen and be used for ever. You do not need to take it out every time you need to use it. It has a Super Capacity Tall Tub design. This means that you can put any utensil in the machine even if it is large or oddly shaped.

Further, it cleans the utensils very well as it has a SheerClean™ wash system which helps in cleaning the utensils from five different angles. It is comparatively cheaper and can clean as well as many of its expensive competitors which are in the market. One good thing about Whirlpool DU1055XTVQ Built-in Dishwasher is that the utensils are very hygienic after being washed in dishwasher as it has a Sani Rinse option which can destroy almost all food soil bacteria.

Its Sani Rinse option has been verified by the NSF. Another good feature of the machine is that it makes very less noise. It has a Quiet Partner™ II system which cuts down on the general noise created by dishwashers as it uses sound-reducing insulation.

However, one problem with Whirlpool DU1055XTVQ Built-in Dishwasher is that it does not have a model in stainless steel and also lacks the extra features which most of the dishwashers these days provide. The controls are also very bulky. Further, being a built in system, it will take a permanent space in your kitchen and thus may not be suitable for small kitchens.

Holds alot of dishes NEW
by: Anonymous

I recently bought a Whirlpool 24” DU1055XTS built-in dishwasher which is proving very helpful in cleaning my dishes. I am very satisfied with its cleaning ability. It looks good and is available in the market usually in white or black colour.

I bought the big capacity dishwasher which is white in colour and it holds a lot of dishes. It has fourteen place settings. It has 4 cycles to clean the dishes and thus it proves very useful for greasy utensils. These cycles are for Pots and Pans, Normal, Light and Rinse Only. All these 4 cycles have different lengths of cleaning time. Pots and Pans have the longest cycle and Rinse Only has the shortest cycle.

This dishwasher has a tall tub and it holds a lot of dishes. It has many options to choose from like hi-temp wash, sani-rinse and no heat drying. The four status lights indicate the status of dishwashing. It has a food disposer for grinding up the food particles before sending them down the drain. It has a self-cleaning filter.

It does not make much noise while working. Its insulated body helps to keep the noise minimum. It washes really well and is reliable. Now I have no need to worry about dirty dishes. It is an energy-efficient dishwasher and has won the energy star rating. It has adjustable shelves, fold-down tines and a knife and fork rack frame.

It can handle many dishes at a time. I think this model works faster and better than other dishwashers. I am very much impressed by its excellent performance. The cleaning and maintenance of this dishwasher is also very easy. It gives good value for money. It is an excellent product and I will recommend this dishwasher to one and all.

Very nice and good price NEW
by: Anonymous

This dishwasher is affordable and very nice. It is not fancy, but it does a very good job. The silverware basket is on the door, so there is a lot more room for the plates.

If you want something that will wash your dishes well, but don't want to pay a lot of money for all the bells and wistles, this dishwasher is for you.

Modern and User friendly NEW
by: Anand

I own this Whirlpool Dishwasher,I bought it when my friend recommended it to me.It has a good and modern design and looks good kept in the kitchen. It gives a modern feel to the kitchen It is a large tub dishwasher and has a capacity of holding a lot of dishes.

Mine is a joint family so I needed a large capacity dishwasher. It is giving me satisfactory results till now as it cleans the nastiest and dirtiest dishes to a shine. This model doesn't have any fancy options and alerts as the new models but it performs the basic functions very efficiently.

It has various setting options such as POTS/PANS, NORMAL, LIGHT and RINSE/HOLD.Other options include HI-TEMP WASH, SANI-RINSE and NO HEAT DRYING.It does not make a lot of noise and cleans a full load of dishes in about an hour which is quite satisfactory.

The only negative points that I found in this machine is the fact that the silverware rack does not go back inside very easily if fully loaded But this is a minor problem as compared to the quality of its cleaning.

Its keypad is also user friendly and easy to understand. It is worth its cost and gives full value for money. Moreover the brand is a well known brand and the service centers are quite efficient and can be found easily in the neighborhood.I will recommend this Whirlpool Dishwasher to every prospective buyer.Go For It.
