Whirpool 24 inch Built In Energy Star Rated

by Sarah
(Norfolk, VA)

Ok- it’s a crazy thing to say, but I love my dishwasher. We have a Whirlpool 24 inch built in that is energy star rated.

Of course energy star rating is great, but now that we own it and know how wonderful it is, we are going to be Whirlpool people for life. First of all the price was really great- about 425.

And these are some of the features: extra large capacity (love it), sanitary wash and rinse (this has been a lifesaver with a baby), and adjustable rack height. The top rack goes up and down which is awesome if you have something big to wash.

Also, there is a row of the bottom tines which folds down for more room. If you are looking for a super quiet dishwasher this is not the one for you. It is not obnoxiously loud or anything, but it is not ultra quiet either.

Another feature we use a lot is the delay wash feature which lets you set the delay to 2, 4, or 6 hours.

We like to run it overnight, so it is nice to set for after we have fallen asleep. I guess another thing you are wondering is how it cleans. It does really well. I think a part of that also has to do with the kind of detergent you use and if you use the pots and pans setting. I always use the normal wash setting with the sanitary rinse cycle.

The only thing that doesn’t come clean is a scrambled egg pan that has not had some of the yucky stuff scrubbed off. The only thing I don’t like about this dishwasher is the utensil tray. It is in the door of the dishwasher.

Sometimes if it did not get shut well before the wash, it will come open when you open the door. Then the utensils come out and it is annoying. But if you are thinking of getting this Whirlpool, I would not let that one thing stop you from getting it.

Good while it lasted NEW
by: Anonymous

I have a Whirlpool Energy Star dishwasher. I bought it 4 years ago. For the first 2 years it worked really well. The dishes came out really clean every time I used it. There was almost no noise while it was operating. My husband and kids loved having so sparkly clean dishes to eat in.

But after 2 years, it began making lot of sound while operating. It was not that a problem for me with the noise but it actually started leaking. I got it fixed with the maintenance man. It was working well after I got it fixed but now it started leaking again and the dishes are also not coming out clean either.

I have to use a lot of dishwasher liquid to get my dishes reasonably clean. Especially the dishes on the top rack don’t get clean well. I have to hand wash those dishes again.

Actually I use it twice a day, heavy duty so that might be the reason it has worn out fast. But definitely better than washing the dishes by hand. It saves me time and energy.

I am planning to buy a new dishwasher soon but definitely a different brand. I would give a rating of 2 out of 5 to this Dishwasher.
